Partenza dal bivio sulla SP 21 via Sillaro in località Pineta, seguendo l'indicazione Villa Sassonero su strada asfaltata con notevole salita, anche se corta.
Arrivati a Villa Sassonero si svolta a sx per costeggiare la chiesa e si prosegue verso dx in leggera salita fino ad arrivare ad un gruppetto di case (c'è anche una vecchia osteria a dx della strada asfaltata). Da qui si svolta a sx su carrabile (via Poggio delle Costanze) che si snoda per poco più di un km nel bosco, arrivando ad un tornante sulla dx, che si segue per continuare su mulattiera sempre in leggera salita nel bosco fino a raggiungere alcuni vecchi casolari (di cui uno diroccato).
Si continua poi seguendo il sentiero che si immette nuovamente nel bosco, con fondo sabbioso (sabbia gialla e rocce) ed arrivando sul crinale della montagna da cui si riescono ad ammirare bei panorami su tutti i fronti.
Usciti dal bosco su un incrocio di due carrabili si prosegue diritto per rientrare in un altro tratto di bosco, fino a giungere su una strada ghiaiata (via Casoni di Romagna) che prosegue lungo il crinale e si congiunge con la Flaminia Minor, sempre ghiaiata, sulla sx (ai cui cigli sono stati ultimamente installati diversi generatori eolici).
Si avanza per poco più di un km e si imbocca subito prima di una salita una strada in discesa sulla sx; si può procedere sempre in discesa seguendo la strada o alla prima curva a dx si imbocca un sentiero sulla sx attraversando un recinto elettrificato di un allevamento di mucche.
Si continua a scendere sulla strada di crinale (si può osservare sulla destra Piancaldoli) e dopo essere risaliti di alcuni metri si compie un'ampia curva a sx e all'altezza di una casa si prosegue sulla strada principale, passando un altro cancello elettrificato per scendere velocemente sul fondovalle fino all'agriturismo Ca' di Rio Zafferino.
Passato l'agriturismo ci si immerge nella calma della piccola vallata ed attraversato il rio si comincia a salire su una ripida strada cementata, che una volta diventata asfaltata arriva fino alla SP 21, via Sillaro, subito prima di Giugnola. Da qui si svolta a sx e si prosege oltrepassando Belvedere e seguendo le indicazioni per Sassoleone.
Appena passato Sassoleone (se ci fosse il forno aperto, n.b. anche la domenica mattina, varrebbe lapena fermarsi a comprare i tipici e buonissimi zuccherotti montanari...) si trova un bivio al qualse si deve svoltare a sx in direzione Castel San Pietro Terme e dopo alcuni km di asfalto in discesa si arriva al punto di partenza.

Departure from the junction on the SP 21 road Sillaro in the Pineta area, following the sign Villa Sassonero on a paved road with steep slope, even if short.
Arrived at Villa Sassonero turn left to pass by the church and continue to the right in slightly uphill until you come to a small group of houses (there is also an old inn on the right of the paved road). From here you turn left onto the road (via Poggio delle Constanze) that runs for a little over a mile into the woods, arriving at a hairpin bend on the right, and follow it to continue on trail always uphill through the woods until you reach some old cottages (one of which is in ruins).
It then continues along the path that you enter the woods again, with sandy bottom (yellow sand and rocks) and arriving on the ridge of the mountain from where you can admire beautiful views on all fronts.
Leaving the woods on a cross of two driveways to go straight back into another part of the forest, until you reach a gravel road (Via Casoni di Romagna), which continues along the ridge and joins the Flaminia Minor, more gravel on the left (where the eyelashes were recently installed several wind generators).
forward to a little more than a mile and take right before a climb down a road on the left; you can always proceed downhill along the road or at the first corner on the right there is a path on the left through an electric fence a herd of cows.
continues to fall on the ridge road (you can see on the right Piancaldoli) and after he recovered a few meters takes a wide curve to the left and to the height of a house, continue on the main road, passing another electrified gate to go down quickly on the valley floor to the farm Ca 'Rio Zafferino.
Past the farm you are immersed in the calm of the small valley and crossed the river begins to climb up a steep concrete road, which once became asphalt reaches the SP 21, via Sillaro just before Giugnola. From here you Go ahead and turn left past the Belvedere and follow the signs for Sassoleone.
Just past Sassoleone (if there was a bakery open, nb even on Sunday morning, it would Lapena stop to buy the typical and delicious zuccherotti mountaineers. ..) there is a junction to qualse you should turn left towards Castel San Pietro Terme and after a few kilometers of asphalt downhill you get to the starting point.
