Partenza dall'abitato di Aringo, anche se sarebbe preferibile iniziare l'escursione poco sotto il paese dove scorre il torrente Mandragone in modo da terminare il giro in discesa. Si sale in direzione del Lago di Campotosto e giunti al valico in prossimità di Capo Cancelli si prosegue attraversando Prato Vecchio. Svoltiamo a destra in direzione Mascioni, la strada inizia a risalire fino all'ennesimo valico dal quale si stacca a dx una vecchia sterrata che porta alla Pozza della Serra. Ultimo ripido strappo in salita e ci si ritrova sul panoramico Monte Civitella. Il sentiero sempre evidente e mai impegnativo scende passando dal Colle Agliardi e dal Colle dei Pendenti per tornare a Capo Cancelli. La seconda parte di discesa si snoda lungo la Costa di Aringo, sfruttando vecchie mulattiere ed entrando sul finale nel Fosso di Casale ove scorre il torrente Mandragone.
