Proponiamo una soluzione per gli amanti della discesa con salita meccanizzata. Sfruttando la Funivia del Gran Sasso con base in località Fonte Cerreto (informarsi preventivamente su giorni di apertura ed orari) partiamo dal piazzale dell’osservatorio di Campo Imperatore per affrontare ben quattro formidabili discese:
1° trail Vallone della Portella. Si sale velocemente al Passo del Lupo e giunti sotto il Monte Portella si imbocca il sentiero che serpeggia nell’omonima vallata.
2° trail Tre Valloni. Portandosi sotto l’albergo di Campo Imperatore si prende il ripido sentiero, in alcuni tratti esposto, che passa sotto gli impianti della funivia per poi deviare verso sinistra per una bella traccia non eccessivamente scoscesa che riporta a Fonte Cerreto.
3° trail Valle Fredda. Dal piazzale dell’osservatorio si supera una prima salita alla quale segue un sentiero a mezza costa che arriva sotto il Monte Scindarella. Deviando a dx si scende in Vallefredda per un primo tratto tecnico che sfocia poi in una veloce carrareccia. Incrociata la strada asfaltata, girando a dx si torna in breve tempo alla base della funivia.
4° trail Tre Valloni Strong. Quasi identico al primo trail sopra indicato ma con una variante da intenditori. In corrispondenza di un pilone della funivia, insiste una costruzione in ferro. Poco sotto il manufatto parte una traccia scoscesa che scivola a valle mantenendosi parallela agli impianti costituendo, a nostro sommesso parere, la cosiddetta “ciliegina sulla torta”.
Si raccomanda di evitare qualsiasi taglio dei sentieri e si invita ad avere prudenza in discesa soprattutto nel rispetto degli escursionisti appiedati che, specie nel fine settimana, percorrono queste splendide vallate.

propose a solution for lovers of descent and ascent mechanized. Taking advantage of the cableway Gran Sasso based in Fonte Cerreto (inquire in advance of opening days and times), we start from the square of Campo Imperatore Observatory to address four formidable descents:
1 trail Vallone della Portella . It rises quickly to the Passo del Lupo and joints below the Monte Portella take the path that winds in the homonymous valley.
2nd trail Three Walloons. Taking under the hotel in Campo Imperatore you take the steep path, exposed in some places, which passes under the facilities of the cable car and then veer to the left for a nice not overly steep track that leads back to Fonte Cerreto.
3rd Cold Valley trail. From the square of the observatory above a first ascent which follows a path half that arrives under the Monte Scindarella. Deviating to the right you go down in Vallefredda up first technical leading later to a fast dirt track. Cross the road, turn right to return quickly to the base of the gondola.
4th trail Walloons Three Strong. Almost identical to the first trail shown above but with a twist by connoisseurs. At a pylon of the cable car, insists an iron construction. Just below the artifact part of a steep track that glides downstream parallel to the remaining plants constituting, in our humble opinion, the "icing on the cake."
It is recommended to avoid cutting any of the paths, and asked to have prudence downhill especially in respect of the stranded hikers that, especially on weekends, run through these beautiful valleys.
