Herrliche Tour zu einem absolutem Panoramagipfel mit 360° Rundumblick vom Alpenhauptkamm, den Dolomiten, Gardaseeberge, Brenta zum Ortler. Die Standseilbahn am Mendel spart uns ca. 700hm. Am Ende sind aber immer noch 1250hm. Die Wege sind überwiegend gut, am Ende mit etwas leichtem Trail gewürzt. Die Anstiege sind jedoch zwischendurch auch sehr steil. Los gehts am Kalterer See auf schmalen Teerwegen durch die Weinberge zur Talstation der Mendelbahn. Räder werden dort problemlos mitgenommen. Oben angekommen gibts schon das erste Panorama auf Bozen und die Dolomiten. Der Anstieg startet erst mal auf Kies und relativ moderat. Bald kommen jedoch immer wieder sehr giftige Steigungsspitzen. Wir bewegen uns in einem Wechsel aus Wald und Wiesen und haben immer wieder schönes Panorama. Pause kann man in der Malga Romeno machen. Bei uns war diese jedoch wg. Renovierung geschlossen. Deshalb sind wir zur Überetscher Hütte gefahren. Dort gibts gutes Essen und Blick nach Osten und auch auf den Monte Roen über uns. Zurück zum Auffahrtsweg wird die Steigung so stark, dass die meisten wohl schieben müssen. Nachdem wir auf dem Auffahrtsweg zurückfahren wollten, haben wir ca. 100hm vor dem Gipfel die Bikes in den Latschen versteckt und sind den sowieso auch abwärts kaum fahrbaren Rest des Wegs zu Fuß gegangen. Oben erwartet uns ein gigantisches Panorama, da wir auf 2200m stehen und die nächsten hohen Berge doch relativ weit weg sind. Es lohnt sich für diese Tour einen wirklich schönen Tag auszusuchen. Die Abfahrt ist auch Richtung Süden möglich, dort kommt man über Trails bis nach Tramin. Wir hatten uns diesmal für eine Variante über den Auffahrtsweg entschieden. Die Abfahrt zum Mendelpass ist durch den teilweise steilen Weg auch nicht langweilig. Dann gings ein gutes Stück auf der Mendelstraße durch schöne Kehren flott bergab. Dann biegt ein Trail nach rechts ab, der recht flüssig zu fahren ist. Man kommt dann erst kurz vor Kaltern wieder auf geteerte Wege und fahrt dann gemütlich durch die Weinberge zurück zum Ausgangspunkt.
