Trail Description

The tour starts from Rosano, famous for its Benedictine monastery of cloistered nuns. Visits are limited to the Masses and Vespers, but it's worth it, the church is beautiful and decorated with a medieval crucifix gorgeous.
Follow the paved road to Rignano and after 300 meters take a paved road on the right, going up Castiglionchio to the farm, where you turn left and the dirt road begins.
This is an old mule path paved with stones, that goes passing by a house and then to a bridge over a small stream. Avoiding left turns and right and continue straight taking a little 'left, after a little' dirt road climbs steeply (hard to stay in the saddle) to the farm Mitigliano. From here the road becomes paved and salt rapidly up to the ridge.
We are farm Moriano, from here take the path "AR" (Renaissance Ring), red and white signs like those of CAI, which soon begins to travel on the flat ridge between woods and stains: this is the old road that connected the high Valdarno to Florence. After an hour you start to climb the Poggio of the meeting, we are now above Florence where you can enjoy a wide view, and then down to the paved road up to the large wooden cross to which you turn right taking the CAI 00 (road newly paved). You can then take the path 1, a beautiful stretch of ridge discovered by trees and with a beautiful view over the Arno, Compiobbi direction. At the end of the open stretch falls in the forest, and the descent of return: the trail is marked with yellow paint, occasionally crosses and runs with the CAI. This is the pistino San Prugnano, a short downhill path is not difficult, which ends at a dirt road near the cemetery of San Prugano, here in the country where a steep dirt road and then tarred up right in front of the monastery of Rosano.
