Il percorso è quello del raduno MTB Forum Sicilia del 10 giugno 2006. Si percorre un anello di circa 35 km, con un primo tratto asfaltato di salita impegnativa ma pedalabile, di 9 km che dall'agriturismo "Chiusa Badia" (530 m.s.l.m.) porta ai circa 800m di Monte Furci, dove è presente un camminamento naturalistico attorno al Lago di Spartà. Proseguendo, la salita diventa meno ripida, il fondo diventa sterrato e si entra nell'area protetta del Parco dei Nebrodi. Continuando a salire ci si inoltra in tratti boschivi ed altri meno fitti, ma sempre caratterizzati dalla vegetazione montana tipica della zona (querce e faggi). Il fondo, dapprima pedalabile e battuto, diventa a tratti pietroso e ripido, constringendo alle volte a proseguire a piedi. Gran parte di questo tratto è pedalato sotto la fitta faggeta. Percorsi 8km dalla partenza si giunge al culmine del percorso (1400m s.l.m.) ovvero il Lago Maulazzo, invaso artificiale che negli anni si è perfettamente inserito nel contesto ed ha dato vita ad un habitat montano assolutamente unico. Qui possiamo compiere il periplo del lago affrontando un tratto mediamente impegnativo sotto gli alberi identificato da un tracciato che corre quasi a pelo d'acqua. Verso sud è visibile la cima del Monte Soro (1847m), che sovrasta tutto il comprensorio dei Nebrodi. Dopo aver attraversato la chiusa dell'emissario, siamo pronti a percorrere un primo tratto in discesa che subito ci fa incontrare una fontana, dove possiamo rifocillarci. Nel tratto successivo, con un fondo più battuto, arriviamo al bivio di Passo Taverna e qui abbiamo la possibilità di proseguire a destra in direzione del Lago Biviere, passando per la fontana della Fontanafridda. La direzione a sinistra, del bivio di Passo Taverna, invece, ci fa proseguire nel percorso dell'anello. Da qui il percorso è tutto in discesa, per alcuni tratti dentro la faggeta, poi il panorama si apre sulla Valle del Rosmarino e più in là con lo sguardo sulle Isole Eolie. Scendendo si incontrano una certa quantità di bivi, presso i quali è bene tenere un occhio al GPS, fino a raggiugnere nuovamente l'asfalto che ci riporta all'agriturismo da cui siamo partiti.

Here we complete the circumnavigation of the lake facing a fairly demanding stretch under the trees identified by a path that runs almost to the water's surface. To the south you can see the top of Mount Soro (1847m), which dominates the whole area of ??the Nebrodis. After passing through the weir effluent, we are ready to follow a first downhill section that immediately makes us meet a fountain, where we can refresh ourselves. In the next section, a fund with more beaten, we arrive at the junction of Pass Tavern and here we have the opportunity to go to the right in the direction of Lake Biviere, passing the fountain of Fontanafridda. The direction to the left, the junction of Pass Tavern, however, makes us continue in the path of the ring. From here the route is downhill all the way, for some traits in the beech forest, then the landscape opens onto Rosemary Valley and beyond with the look of the Aeolian Islands. Going down you meet a certain amount of forks, from whom it is good to keep an eye on the GPS, should achieve again until the asphalt that brings us back to the farm where we started.
