Punto di partenza: Oriolo Romano Distanza da Roma : 60 km Lunghezza: 29 km Dislivello: 790 m Quota massima: 570 mslm Tempo in sella: 2h 40m Sterrato: 88 %Come arrivare Oriolo Romano si trova a circa 60 km a nord di Roma. Si raggiunge percorrendo successivamente la via Cassia e la Braccianese fino a Manziana. Da qui in direzione Viterbo sempre sulla via Claudia - Braccianese. Per chi volesse la stazione di Oriolo, dove conviene parchegiare, è comodamente servita da treni su cui è consentito il trasporto bici Descrizione percorso Km 0,0 - 405 mslm Superato il paese di Oriolo, al termine del lungo viale alberato,300 m dopo la stazione, all'altezza del km. 32.900 della provinciale, si imbocca a sinistra "via della croce nuova" dal fondo sterrato. Km 0,8 - 405 mslm Si prosegue a destra lungo la "strada della castellina" Km 1,9 - 390 mslm Piegare a sinistra sulla "strada del passo delle barozze". Km 3,3 - 382 mslm Giriamo a sinistra su una stradina in discesa inizialmente asfaltata. L'asfalto dopo pochi metri lascia spazio a lungi tratti sterrati. Si guada (km. 4,4 306 mslm) il fiume Mignone su fondo cementato e si risale sull'altro versante. Un breve strappo ci porta a un primo allevamento a quota 380 (km 5,8) dove si lascia sulla destra una stradina da cui arriveremo al ritorno. Proseguendo in lieve discesa sulla sterrata principale superiamo un cancello ed un paio di casali Km 7,5 - 311 mslm Subito dopo una ripida discesa, si lascia la sterrata principale per girare a sinistra. Superata una costruzione diroccata sulla sinistra ed un cancello in legno ( a volte chiuso - si entra in una proprietà privata!) occorre impegnarsi su una ripida rampa . Eventualmente, proseguendo dritti a questo incrocio si arriva all'altezza del bivio del km 13,6 (percorso non provato) Km 8,7 - 383 mslm Si prosegue in salita per circa 1 km su buon fondo. Superato un altro cancello in legno si entra nei boschi dell'università agraria Km 10,2 - 471 mslm Al termine di una breve discesa si tralascia la pista forestale sulla sinistra girando a destra Km 10,3 - 470 mslm Dopo 100 m la sterrata gira bruscamente a sinistra di fronte ad un cancello in legno.Noi proseguiamo sulla pista che continua oltre il cancello. La sterrata, passando sotto due elettrodotti, continua a salire fino ad una sella a quota 496. Si affronta poi una breve e abbastanza ripida discesa Km 11,7 - 450 mslm Al bivio la sterrata principale prosegue sulla sinistra ( seguendola si arriva comunque al bivio del km 13.6 o 14.5). Noi proseguiamo sulla pista di destra ormai percorsa solo dal bestiame. Si superano 2 cancelli affrontando subito dopo una salita dal fondo molto inciso dall'acqua. Km 13,6 - 526 mslm Subito dopo aver superato con un tornante in salita un fontanile posto dietro a un cancello in legno si arriva a un bivio dove si tiene la destra Km 14,5 - 509 mslm Dopo aver superato un valico a quota 560 m ed oltrepassato un cancello (cartello "Monte Casella") si comincia a scendere verso Vejano. Il fondo sconnesso lascia via via il posto all'asfalto dopo un ulteriore saliscendi Km 18,1 - 385 mslm Nell'abitato di Veiano è possibile ristorarsi e dare un occhiata al nucleo storico. Dalla piazza centrale con la fontana si prende la strada principale in discesa a destra in direzione Roma per 400 m Km 18,5 - 368 mslm Al tornante si prosegue nella stradina in discesa in direzione S.Orsio Km 19,3 - 340 msl Al bivio si prosegue lungo la sterrata di sinistra. Si trascurano le immissioni laterali e in corrispondenza di una curva a destra la strada inizia a salire su fondo cementato. Dopo la ripida rampa il cemento lascia il posto a un buon asfalto su cui si continua a salire per circa 1,5 km Km 21,2 - 410 mslm Si continua a destra. Si oltrepassa una villa e, su sterrato, si arriva fino ad una sella a quota 440 da cui,superato un cancelletto, si ridiscende sul versante opposto su una pista dal fondo sconnesso. Km 23,2 - 380 mslm Ci si ritrova sulla strada percorsa all'andata. Si gira a sinistra per tornare in meno di 6 km al punto di partenza Variante 1 Km 21,2 - 410 mslm Al bivio si tiene la destra. Dopo una breve discesa risulta difficile rimanere in sella su una salita dal fondo molto rovinato e fangoso Km 22,0 - 420 mslm Di fronte ad un cancello (in costruzione) di una villa si prende a sinistra. La stradina gira subito a destra lungo la recinzione della casa e prosegue poi in piano per poi iniziare a scendere Km 22,5 - 405 mslm Al bivio si tiene la destra continuando a scendere e trascurando le deviazioni laterali. Arrivati su un prato la pista sembra perdersi, in realtà basta proseguire qualche metro andando a guadare il torrente Km 23,3 - 326 mslm Subito dopo il guado ci aspetta una dura rampa in salita. Km 23,6 - 354 mslm Giunti ad una piccola radura si tiene la pista di sinistra. Si compie una ampia curva sulla destra passando accanto ad una grande tettoia abbandonata Km 24,1 - 381 mslm Si supera una veccia sbarra arruginita proseguendo dritti su una buona sterrata. Km 24,8 - 404 mslm Arrivati sulla provinciale si gira a destra su asfalto. Senza alcuna difficoltà, salvo fare attenzione alle auto, si ritorna in 4,5 km al punto di partenza. Variante 2 Km 0,0 - 560 mslm Si può abbreviare di circa 2 km il giro, evitando l'attraversamento di Veiano, svoltando a destra in corrispondenza del valico incontrato dopo il km 13.6 e percorrendo la sterrata inizialmente in discesa Km 0,5 - 537 mslm Di fronte ad un grande cartello si gira a sinistra in salita Km 0,8 - 527 mslm Si gira a sinistra sulla sterrata in discesa chiusa da un cancello in legno proseguendo per un paio di chilometri Km 2,9 - 340 mslm Ci si ritrova al bivio descritto al km 19,3 dell'itinerario base che riprendiamo a seguire girando a destra Variante 3 Alle sorgenti sulfuree della mola di Oriolo Percorrendo a ritroso la strada dell'andata si supera il guado sul Mignone, si supera la salita su fondo in parte asfaltato arrivando al punto descritto al km 3.3. Si gira a destra sempre sulla strada percorsa all'andata per abbandonarla in corrispondenza di un cancello in legno. Superata una breve salita si pedala in cresta per circa un km per poi scendere nei campi coltivati su traccia abbastanza evidente. Si prosegue fino ad incontrare i ruderi della vecchia mola nei pressi di una interessante sorgente sulfurea. La zona è meta di gitanti. Superato il cancello di ingresso si prende la sterrata in salita che porta ad Oriolo
