Itinerario che non presenta grosse difficoltà ma prima di affrontarlo si consiglia di assumere informazioni presso il C.A.I. di Ascoli Piceno al fine di verificare la transitabilità e lo stato della segnaletica specie nel Fosso di Rigo. La zona infatti, nei periodi piovosi, è fortemente soggetta a smottamenti e frane che spesso modificano lo stato dei luoghi. Dal borgo di Favalanciata percorriamo la via Salaria bypassando sulla sx l’unica galleria che incontriamo nel tragitto. Raggiunto il bivio per Peracchia svoltiamo a dx e risaliamo la vallata posta tra particolari formazioni rocciose dette Lame di Sopra Serra ed il Monte Castello. Dopo una serie di tornanti giungiamo a Capodirigo e continuiamo a salire lungo la valle fino ad un valico dove abbandoniamo la strada per seguire su crinale il camminamento che arriva fin sulla vetta del Pizzo di Capodirigo. Dalla sommità del rilievo il panorama è grandioso potendo pregustare nel contempo il teatro della discesa ossia il Fosso di Rigo. Dal Pizzo si può optare per una discesa più hard su lastroni di arenaria, in tal caso bisogna tenersi a sx, oppure si può scegliere una discesa meno esasperata ripercorrendo la vallata. Più in basso si intercetta una mulattiera che si porta sotto Capodirigo ma in prossimità di un ruscello la pista tende a sparire. Seguendo il corso d’acqua però, poco più a valle si incrocia l’acquedotto di Pescara d’Arquata. Superata una galleria scavata nella roccia si imbocca a sx il sentiero n. 401 che, tra faggete e boschi di castagni scende nel selvaggio Fosso di Rigo sino a Favalanciata.

route that is not very difficult to deal with but before you should take information from the CAI Ascoli Piceno in order to verify the status of road traffic and usage especially in the Fosso di Rigo. The area in fact, in rainy periods, it is highly prone to landslides that often change the state of the place. From the village of Favalanciata walk the Via Salaria on the left bypassing the only gallery that we encounter on the way. At the crossroads for Peracchia turn right and walk up the valley located between the particular rock formations blades Above Serra and Monte Castello. After a series of switchbacks we reach Capodirigo and continue to climb along the valley to a pass where we leave the road to follow the ridge on the walkway that reaches up to the top of Pizzo di Capodirigo. From the top of the hill, the view is great at the same time being able to anticipate the theater of descent that is the Fosso di Rigo. From Pizzo you can opt for a more down hard on slabs of sandstone, in which case you must keep to the left, or you can choose a less extreme downhill retracing the valley. Further down you catch a trail that leads Capodirigo below but close to a stream the track tends to disappear. Following the stream, however, a little further downstream it crosses the aqueduct of Pescara d'Arquata. After passing a tunnel dug into the rock on the left, take the path n. 401 which, among beech and chestnut woods down in the wild Fosso di Rigo until Favalanciata.
