Am Morgen scheinte es, als würde der Regen nachlassen, aber just in dem Moment als wir uns entschieden hatten loszufahren, brach ein Unwetter los. Auf der Abfahrt von Castelluccio prasselten die Regentropfen wie Nadelstiche ins Gesicht und innerhalb weniger Minuten fühlte sich der Körper trotz Regenklamotten nass und klamm an. Zu allem Unglück ereilte Karin bereits nach 2 km der Plattenteufel und ich kann euch sagen, es macht keinerlei Spaß bei strömenden Regen den Schlauch zu wechseln! Die Straße führte auf einen Sattel hinauf, dann folgte eine lange Abfahrt über mehr als 800 Hm bis ins Tronto-Tal. Nun verlief die Straße, stets am Fluss entlang, welchen man allerdings kaum zu Gesicht bekam. Wegen des schmalen, abgelegenen und teilweise zugewucherten Sträßchen begegneten uns nur wenige Autos. Kurz vor Accumoli hörte es auf zu regnen und kaum verzogen sich die Wolken, brannte die Sonne auch schon heiß auf den Rücken. In dem kleinen Örtchen Accumoli trockneten wir die nassen Sachen und ein kleiner Kiosk versorgte uns mit Croissants und Cola. Bei leichter Steigung mussten noch 700 Hm erradelt werden, dann verliessen wir nach Amatrice die Hauptstraße. Ein Wald- und Wiesenweg leitete uns bis Campotosto und von dort weiter zu unserer Unterkunft "Ristorante Bar Pensione Serena Di Masci Giuseppina E Serenella".
