Il percorso è molto interessante per gli aspetti paesaggistici e naturalistici.
La prima parte è in asfalto su una stradina più o meno pianeggiante. Si incontrano alcune sorgenti ( per un tratto segue il percorso delle sorgenti proposto come itinerario dal Parco dei Nebrodi). Poi il sentiero si inerpica tra i boschi fino a giungere sulla sommità ai piedi della Serra del Re, sommità dell'altopiano che viene costeggiato. Giunti sulla cresta si procede verso Nord per immettersi sulla dorsale dei Nebrodi, che si segue per qualche Km. Ad un incrocio ben segnalato si imbocca il sentiero per il Lago Cartolari. Si giunge quindi alle spalle di un bel rifugio, Case Cartolari, dove ci si può riposare e rifocillarsi con un bel panino imbottito di gustosi prodotti locali e acqua fresca. Il laghetto è molto piccolo, ma prezioso per alcuni volatili: mi è capitato di vedere qualche cicogna e molti rapaci, anche di grandi dimensioni. Si procede quindi ritornando, in salita, sulla dorsale per poi prendere a destra per il lago Trearie. E' il punto giusto dove fermarsi per guardare a Nord per osservare in lontananza le Isole Eolie e a Sud Lo spettacolo dell'Etna (se il tempo e la visibilità consentono). Si scende quindi costeggiando sulla sinistra il lago e proseguendo in discesa fino al Rifugio Trearie. Chiamarlo rifugio è molto riduttivo: è un'area attrezzata molto bella e accogliente, tenuta come un gioiello dal Corpo Forestale. Poi attraversando un ponte interdetto alla circolazione si ritorna al punto di partenza attraverso una strada asfaltata il cui primo tratto presenta una salita molto impegnativa. Il percorso è veramente bello. Si può fare in estate, ma anche in autunno, purché non molto freddo e umido, è interessante, i colori sono molto diversi e ricchi.

The course is very interesting aspects for landscape and nature.
The first part is asphalt on a street more or less flat. You will encounter some sources (for a stretch follows the path of the sources proposed as a route from Nebrodi Park). Then the trail climbs through the woods until you reach the top of the foot of the Serra del Re, top of the plateau, which is lined. Once on the ridge you head North to merge onto the back of the Nebrodis, which you follow for a few Km. At a crossroads, take the well-marked trail to the lake Cartolari. You will then get behind a beautiful retreat, Case Cartolari, where you can rest and refresh themselves with a nice sandwich of tasty local produce and fresh water. The pond is very small, but valuable for some birds: I happened to see some stork and many birds of prey, including large. It is then back, uphill, along the ridge and then take a right to the lake Trearie. And 'the right spot where you can stop to look north to observe in the Aeolian Islands and Etna Sud The show (if the weather and visibility permitting). It then descends along the lake on the left and continue downhill to the hut Trearie. Call it retreat is very simplistic: it is a picnic area very nice and cozy, like a jewel held by the Forest Service. Then crossing a bridge closed off to traffic returns to the starting point via a paved road where the first section presents a very challenging climb. The course is really nice. You can do it in summer, but also in the fall, provided they are not very cold and wet, it's interesting, the colors are very diverse and rich.
