Plaats: ValkenburgLengte van de route: De route heeft een lengte van 30 kilometer. Markering: De route is gemarkeerd met houten palen met in het zwart het internationale MTB-teken (driehoek met daaronder 2 rondjes). Verbindingsroutes van de ene naar de andere route zijn wit bewegwijzerd. Startlocatie: "Cycle Center” Tweewielerverhuur, De Valkenberg 8b, 6301 LB Valkenburg aan de Geul. De startplaatsen worden aangeduid met informatiepanelen.Aard van de route: In het Zuid-Limburgse Heuvelland liggen 8 bewegwijzerde mountainbikeroutes met een totale lengte van 250 kilometer. De routes zijn door verbindingsstukken aan elkaar gekoppeld, zodat een netwerk ontstaat dat het hele Heuvelland bestrijkt. Het is dus mogelijk om het hele Heuvelland per mountainbike te ontdekken. De routes zijn aantrekkelijk voor zowel beginners als gevorderden en zijn aangelegd door de aantrekkelijkste gebieden van het Heuvelland. Deze netwerkstructuur is uniek in Nederland. De Valkenburgroute is een route voor gevorderden. De route bevat lange hellingen en heuvelachtige stukken bos. De routes zijn vanwege de eenduidigheid en veiligheid naar één richting bewegwijzerd: rechtsom. Hellingen en verschillen in ondergrond zijn ook bijzonder interessant voor mountainbikers. De routes zijn zo gesitueerd, dat de mountainbiker voldoende aan zijn trekken komt, maar dat de meest kwetsbare ondergrond, bossen en natuurgebieden gespaard blijven. Het is belangrijk dat de mountainbiker in het Heuvelland beseft dat het een voorrecht is om in zo'n landschap te mogen fietsen. Wijk niet af van de routes en rij nooit door vegetaties!
