Trail Description

Old Fleimstaler railway line from Neumarkt to San Lugano are to cope with 800 m height difference - the Vecia Ferrovia follows in the footsteps of former Fleimstalbahn We start at the town hall square of Neumarkt and head north to the place Vill, where we take the road to Montan from. Things are looking up, with an embossed by vineyards and oak landscape. On the left side we see the ruins of Castel spring. At the intersection near Montan we turn right towards the town center. Before we get there, we see on the left a playground. Right after we turn right and drive past the former station of Montan. 100 meters to the asphalt track ends - instead abzufahren by Pinzon, we choose the dirt - in the former railway line to the Val di Fiemme. The mountain biker's heart beat faster. The track is legendary - she leads by wine regions, deciduous and coniferous forests, which are already part of the Natural Park Monte Corno - through tunnels and over viaducts. Built by Russian prisoners of war route had to overcome many difficulties and was stamped under Austrian leadership in a few years out of the ground. In the 60s the web which anband the Dolomite valleys of the main towns in the valley, was replaced by a bus service. The advantage of such a decommissioned railway line is the steady but constant slope. If you have found his rhythm, you can just contact to the pass of San Lugano on. Extreme slopes are just as non-existent as planar sections. The lining deteriorated somewhat in the last section to Kaltenbrunn, but is still in order. Among the interesting views are as Aldeiner the bridge (because of their height and & ldquo; Europe Small Bridge & rdquo; called), the vineyards near Montan, the forests of the Natural Park Monte Corno and the old stations, relics from the past. The Pass of San Lugano is the way the border between South Tyrol - Trentino begins from here. Something disturbing can only notice the Dolomites road that accompanied the last section of the trail in a few meters distance when times should be much traffic. For Whom the descent on the old railway line should be too bumpy, which can alternatively take the Dolomites road. In the lower section, great panoramic views open up over the Adige Valley.
