Wunderschöne, relativ kurze aber anstrengende Biketour auf eine Festungsruine auf 2900m. Der Weg war im Sommer 2012 sehr gut erhalten und bis auf ca. 300m auch durchgängig befahrbar. Auf jeden Fall ein absolutes Highlight unter den Biketouren in der Region. Für motorisierte Fahrzeuge ist die Straße gesperrt. Unser Start war von Susa kommend an einem riesigen Parkplatz kurz unter der Staumauer des Lac du Mont Cenis auf ca. 1850m. Zwei riesige, etwas heruntergekommene Hotelbauten verschönern die tolle Bergwelt nicht wirklich, das verfallene Dorf wirkt da schon malerischer. Auf dem Bike geht’s nun zuerst zum linken Ende der Staumauer rauf, wo unter dem Fort Variselle die alte Militärstraße zum Fort Malamot beginnt. Über viele Kehren gewinnt man auf der relativ steilen, schottrigen Straße schnell an Höhe. Man kommt in ein etwas weiteres Gelände, ohne dass die Steigung wirklich nachlässt. Erste Gebäude stehen neben dem Weg und das Fort hoch oben ist schon sehr gut sichtbar. Dann geht’s zum Gipfelanstieg wieder über viele Kehren. Zwischendurch wird der Schotter auf einem kurzen Stück so tief, dass dann doch mal Schieben angesagt war. Kurz vor dem Gipfel hat dann der Schnee nur einen schmalen Fahrstreifen übrig gelassen. Oben angekommen waren wir vom Blick auf die umgebende Bergwelt absolut fasziniert. Bergspitzen und Gletscher der französischen Hochalpen rundum. Unterhalb liegt der Lac Blanc, zu dem man auf der Abfahrt auch noch abzweigen könnte. Wir sind dann auf der Abfahrt lieber noch zu einer gut sichtbaren Geschützstellung gefahren, wo eine im Boden eingelassene Stahlkuppel Rätsel aufgibt. Wie ist man da reingekommen? Auf der Abfahrt gab‘s dann immer wieder Murmeltiere zu sehen. Die fühlen sich dort anscheinend besonders wohl. Wir sind dann über den Staudamm, mit schönem Blick auf den Lac du Mont Cenis, zurück zum Ausgangspunkt gefahren.

Beautiful, relatively short but strenuous bike tour on a fortress ruin on 2900m. The road was very well received in the summer of 2012, and up to 300m also consistently passable. Definitely a highlight under the bike tours in the region. For motorized vehicles, the road is closed. Our start was coming to a huge parking lot just below the dam of Lac du Mont Cenis on approximately 1850m of Susa. Two huge, somewhat rundown hotel buildings embellish the great mountains not really, the dilapidated village appears as even more picturesque. On the bike goes & rsquo s now first to the left end of the dam up, where under the Fort Variselle begins the old military road to Fort Malamot. For many curves, you win on the relatively steep, gravelly road altitude quickly. It comes in a slightly wider area, without the pitch really subsides. First buildings stand next to the road and the fort high up is already very visible. Then it & rsquo s rise to the top again over many turns. In between the gravel is so deep on a short piece that some games slide was then announced. Shortly before the summit then has left only a narrow lane left of the snow. At the top we were absolutely fascinated by the view of the surrounding mountains. Mountain peaks and glaciers of the French High Alps all around. Below is the Lac Blanc, to which one could turn onto the exit too. We would rather be down on the descent still a visible gun emplacement, where a sunken steel dome riddles. As you got in there? On the descent was & lsquo; then see s always marmots. The feel there seem particularly well. We are then over the dam, driven back with beautiful views of the Lac du Mont Cenis to the starting point.
