Poco sopra Pretoro, ove insiste l’area faunistica del lupo, iniziamo a percorrere la strada che sale a Passo Lanciano e prosegue fino al Rifugio Bruno Pomilio. Si pedala tutto su bitume dapprima tra la bassa vegetazione fino ad aggirare il Colle S.Andrea e poi tra le interminabili faggete della Costa della Madonna. Superato Passo Lanciano si esce sui prati aperti ed il panorama circostante è di certo migliore del colpo d’occhio sulle orribili costruzioni che accerchiano il Rifugio Pomilio. Dai prati della Majelletta scende a sx un sentiero di gran pregio ben contrassegnato da segnaletica C.A.I. il quale accarezza il lunghissimo crinale montuoso che arriva a Pennapiedimonte. La mutevolezza del tracciato è a dir poco appagante, gli scorci panoramici semplicemente mozzafiato. Dopo un primo tratto in single track veloce che attraversa la sella di Pietro Cioppo si arriva alla Rocchetta dove ci si cimenta in qualche passaggio ostico su roccia. Successivamente il sentiero entra nella boscaglia e con stupende serpentine giunge alla zona della Crocetta. La traccia tortuosamente si insinua tra macchie di pino mugo per giungere nella parte finale dell’itinerario ovvero la più rischiosa. Sopra il Balzolo il sentiero viaggia sospeso sul Fosso d’Avello proponendo passaggi a filo di burrone culminanti proprio sotto la pietra simbolo del luogo che con il sua particolare arcata chiude un itinerario di grande bellezza.

Just above Pretoro, where insists area wildlife wolf, begin to travel the road that leads to Passo Lanciano and continues up to the Rifugio Bruno Pomilio. You ride around on bitumen initially between the low vegetation up to circumvent the Colle S. Andrea, and then between the endless beech forests of Costa's Madonna. Passo Lanciano is passed out on the open meadows and the surrounding landscape is certainly better than a glance on the horrific buildings that surround the Refuge Pomilio. From the meadows Majelletta down to the left a path of great value well marked by signs CAI which caresses the long mountain ridge that reaches Pennapiedimonte. The mutability of the track is nothing short of rewarding, panoramic views simply breathtaking. After an initial section on fast single track that crosses the seat of Peter Cioppo you get to Rocchetta where one is engaged in some difficult passage out of the rock. Then the trail goes into the woods with wonderful serpentine reaches the area of ??the spreader. The track tortuously winds between patches of pine to reach the final part of the route that is the most risky. Above the Balzolo the path hovers over the Fosso d'Avello proposing steps to wire the ravine highlights just below the stone symbol of the place with its particular arch closes a journey of great beauty.
