Vom Startpunkt Heppingen geht's über die Ahr.Nachdem man unter der Brücke der Ortsumgehung hindurch ist direkt rechts halten. An der nächsten Kreuzung geradeaus den ersten Berg hinauf (unter der Ahrtalbrücke hindurch). Oben angekommen stehen wir direkt neben der sehr lauten A 61, aber es geht sofort rechts in den Wald hinein und es wird sich berghoch gequält bis man die auf den Hauptwanderweg des Eifelvereins stößt. Diesen immer weiter folgen bis in den Ort Ramersbach. Weiterhin dem Wanderweg folgen. Bei der ersten Abfahrt können die Beine nochmal gelockert werden für den Anstieg auf den Recher Sattel. Dort angekommen hat man den großteil der Höhenmeter geschafft. Dem Wanderweg weiter Richtung Steinerberghaus folgen. Nachdem man auf der linken Seite einen Funkmast passiert hat geht es wieder bergab um direkt wieder rechtsabzubiegen. Nach ca. 300 Metern festgefahrener Schotter gehts links. Sobald man auf der linken Seite eine große Wiese sichtet folgt man dem Wanderweg Nr. 8. Von hier an beginnt der eigentlich Spaß der Tour. Über leicht flowige Trails gehts zum Schrock (einer der schönsten Aussichtspunkte der Mittelahr, der Abstecher von 100 Metern lohnt) um Anschließen über gemütlichen und teils anspruchsvollen Trails hinab nach Reimerzhoven zu fahren. Von hier kann man über den auch schönen Ahrtalradweg zurück zum Ausgangspunkt nach Heppingen fahren.
