Trail Description

We set off in the mid day sun with temperatures in the shade of 32c toward Valerie's family weekend house which is about 30km via the shortest but hilliest route or 55 via a relatively flat route with great singletrack in the forests. It was going well until about 26km when Valerie's bike was slow to change gear at a change in slope with a small rock step. Some old fashioned toe clips and straps stopped Valerie from getting her foot down ans so she stopped off a sheer 8ft drop. Fortunately the prickly bushes slowed her fall but also scratched her legs ans arms. It could easily have been fr worse. We were still about km from the nearest Village so it was back on the bikes to meet Eva and Teresa in the car. I carried on to complete the last 20km on my own but found the red marks on trees and posts quite hard to follow as I passed through one village. Otherwise, it was a great ride that passes through some beautiful suburban areas before getting into the forests where the singletrack is pretty technical in places with rock platforms and routes on adverse cambers.
