Ascesa molto impegnativa.
La strada è un falsopiano fino all'abitato di Piteccio, poi comincia a salire sempre più decisa; questo tratto è quasi completamente rettilineo e molto stancante.
Dopo 2 km, iniziano i tornanti, quasi una ventina che portano al paese, nel tratto centrale la strada spiana molto.
Arrivati alla stazione, breve discesa per arrivare al borgo, e ricominciano i tornanti, prima tra le case poi nel bosco.
Arrivati in località Pian di Giuliano, la strada spiana, anche se con qualche strappo, fino a scollinare nella valle del Reno, sopra la SR66 porrettana.
