Section 5 of the Transalp from 2007 from Garmisch to Belluno (ie something different ... not to Lake Garda). Basically this Transalp is more suitable for beginners and can be completely gone except for a few exceptions. Overall, about 40% asphalt (mainly bike lanes) 50% forest / dirt roads carry 10%, push, lift Stage 5: Olang - Cortina d'Ampezzo now it really goes to Italy. First, continue through the Pusteria to Dobbiaco. From there, a sharp right into the Dolomites and past the Three Peaks (but are still quite a few KM away). The nice thing about the route from Dobbiaco to Cortina: it is an old (upgraded as a cycle track) railway line and it never goes steeply uphill. The less beautiful: it goes steadily uphill slightly and on fine gravel ... so is quite tiring over time. The top of the pass to 1530m altitude but compensates a beautiful Refreshments AND the long descent to Cortina by a great scenery and with one or the other railway tunnel.
