Il Monte San Gabriele, (in sloveno Škabrijel) è un monte di 646 m della Slovenia occidentale, a 3 km in linea d’aria dalla città di Gorizia.
Si trova all’interno dell’insediamento di Moncorona (Kromberk) del comune di Nova Gorica. Ai suoi piedi, verso sud-ovest si trova il colle di Santa Caterina (Kekec / Sv. Katarina).
Durante la Prima guerra mondiale fu un'inespugnabile roccaforte austroungarica, piena di gallerie e trincee.
Questo itinerario, partenza a parte, si svolge in territorio sloveno e porta in vetta al monte prendendo il via dal piazzale di Casarossa e dopo aver oltrepassato il confine e il paese di Salcano, ad un incrocio con semaforo si prende in direzione Lokve e al km 4,5 (segnalato dalla tabella miliare e dal Wp 01) si svolta sulla carrareccia che sale a dx. Questa carrareccia in mezzo al bosco, lunga 2 km che porta alla vetta, sale da subito dura e decisa con continue variazioni di pendenza dal 10 al 20%.
Dalla vetta si ritorna indietro per circa 500 metri e si svolta a dx (Wp 02) dove ha inizio un entusiasmante singletrack per esperti (diff. S2/S3), che, a parte un breve tratto transitorio per trasferirsi al colle di Santa Caterina, porta fino al paese di Kromberk con 500 metri di disl. in discesa.
A Kromberk dopo aver attraversato la statale e 3 km del bosco di Panovec sbuca sulla strada asfaltata che riporta al valico di Casarossa e poi al piazzale omonimo punto di partenza dell'itinerario.
