DESCRIZIONE
Da Nydri si arriva a Perigiali quindi si sale fino a raggiungere una strada secondaria nel wp C a q. 130 che permette di risalire verso nord evitando la costiera; in D bisogna affrontare una breve ma dura rampa seguita da un veloce tratto sterrato e molto panoramico. Dopo una discesa che lambisce la periferia di Nikiana (q. 70 m) ci si dirige verso l’interno e si scollina poco dopo Kasteli a q. 320. Da qui si scende a Lygia, sulla costa e si propone una interessante e facile digressione (A+R) alla laguna di Karyotes (speravo di chiudere il giro ma non ci si collega alla costiera). Ormai Lefkada città è vicina; il giro tiene ad est, per la marina, e raggiunge il ponte che la collega alla terraferma. Si completa il periplo della grande laguna di Lefkada sul lato nord e poi ovest e si resta colpiti dalla scoperta di spiaggioni che si estendono per vari km, semideserti anche in stagione avanzata. Mentre ci si riavvicina alla montagna appaiono i resti di antichi mulini a vento mal conservati. Si torna a salire, per un breve tratto di difficile sentiero, fino alla principale che poco dopo attraversa Tsoukalades; qui si prende una secondaria che tiene in quota e dal wp N lambisce un gran numero di arnie (l’ho chiamata “via delle api”; chi fosse allergico alle punture potrà evitarla tenendo la principale, dal wp M). Lo sterrato raggiunge una profonda e verdeggiante vallata dove si immette sulla strada che da Sfakiotes scende al mare. All’improvviso ecco il mare e la baia di Agios Nikitas (noto e frequentato centro balneare) che si raggiunge presto e dove si può fare una sosta ristoro (merita comunque scendere a mare per le sue caratteristiche viuzze). Si risale ora per meno di 2 Km sulla principale quindi si svolta a dx seguendo ind: Kathisma beach. A q. 120 si scollina e ci si tuffa verso la spiaggia; lungomare alcune mappe segnano un percorso che si collega alla Avali beach… peccato che la strada sia franata ! Per non fare dietro-front, tolte le scarpe da bici, bisogna spingere per 1 Km lungo la battigia; in vista della strada resta ancora un ostacolo: un salto di 5 m da superare spalleggiando la bici. Poi è strada piana, ma non per molto: una dura salita, di pomeriggio sotto il sole cocente, per risalire l’altopiano fino a q. 620. Da qui, con una seri di innumerevoli saliscendi, (si passa per Exantheia e Drymonas) si resta sostanzialmente in quota fino in vista di Karya. Si scende di 100 m ma poi se ne riprendono 200 nella salita finale che raggiunge Englouvi a q. 720. Basta così, meglio scendere; per asfalto si arriva a Vafkeri e poi velocemente e con bei panorami ci si affaccia ormai sulla baia di Nydri.

DESCRIPTION
From Nidri you get to Perigiali then go up until you reach a side street in wp C at q. 130 that allows you to go back to the north to avoid the coastal; D must be addressed in a short but tough ramp followed by a fast stretch of dirt road and very scenic. After a descent that touches the outskirts of Nikiana (q. 70m) we head towards the inside and top of the hill shortly after Kasteli to q. 320 From here you descend to Lygia, on the coast and offers an interesting and easy digression (A + R) to the lagoon Karyotes (I was hoping to close the circle but not connecting to the coast). Lefkada town is now at hand; the tour takes in the east, for the navy, and reach the bridge that connects it to the mainland. This completes the circumnavigation of the great Lefkada Lagoon and then west on the north side and one is struck by the discovery of spiaggioni that extend for several kilometers, semi-deserted even late in the season. While it gets closer to the mountains appear the remains of ancient windmills poorly preserved. It returns to rise, for a short stretch of difficult path, up to the main that shortly after crossing Tsoukalades; here we take a minor share holding in the wp and N touches a large number of hives (I called it "the way of the bees" who was allergic to stings can avoid taking the main, from the wp M). The dirt road reaches a deep green valley where it joins the road from Sfakiotes down to the sea. Suddenly, here is the sea and the bay of Agios Nikitas (known and popular seaside resort) which can be reached quickly and where you can make a refreshment stop (still worth down to the sea for its narrow streets). It now goes for less than 2 km on the main then turn right following ind: Kathisma beach. A q. 120 scollina you and you dive down to the beach; promenade some maps mark a path that connects to Avali beach ... too bad that the road has caved in! To do an about-face, removed the bike shoes, you have to push for 1 km along the shoreline; in view of the street remains an obstacle: a leap of 5 m to overcome spalleggiando the bike. Then the road is flat, but not for long: a tough climb in the afternoon under the scorching sun, to climb up to the plateau q. 620. From here, with a serious countless ups and downs, (you will pass for Exantheia and Drymonas) it remains substantially in proportion to a view of Karya. It comes down to 100 m but then they take up 200 in the final climb that reaches Englouvi to q. 720 Just so, the better off; Asphalt will get to Vafkeri and then faster and with beautiful views of the bay faces us now Nidri.
