Partenza da Merso di Sopra (parcheggio campo calcio). La salita al santuario di Castelmonte avviene lungo strada asfaltata passando per San Leonardo ( si attraversano le frazioni di Altana e di Iainich). Dalla terrazza inferiore del santuario inizia la discesa lungo il sentiero 747 fino a incrociare la strada percorsa per la salita. Si prende il sentiero 760 Castelmonte Picon S.Leonardo. Il sentiero è impegnativo ed caratterizzato da pietraie mobili con qualche radice. Si scende fino ad incontrare una cappella votiva. (diff. single trail S2/S3). Proseguendo in discesa sulla destra e difficoltà diminuiscono in quanto il sentiero si trasforma in comoda mulattiera che porta a raggiungere il borgo di Picon. Si segue in salita sulla destra una forestale che sale verso il bosco per poi scendere fino ad incontrare una carrareccia. Si scende sulla sinistra per qualche centinaio di metri per poi imboccare un sentiero a destra. Si scende lungo un facile e scorrevole sentiero sottobosco fino a sbucare sulla strada che da Cemur sale a borgo Picon. Su comoda carrareccia si raggiunge Merso di Sopra.

Departure from Merso di Sopra (soccer field parking lot). The climb to the Sanctuary of Castelmonte occurs along the paved road passing through San Leonardo (you pass through the villages of Altana and Iainich). From the lower terrace of the sanctuary begins the descent along the path 747 until you cross the road traveled for the climb. Take the path Castelmonte 760 S. Leonardo Picon. The trail is challenging and featuring stone furniture with some roots. Descend until you reach a votive chapel. (Diff. Single trail S2 / S3). Continuing down the right and decrease in difficulty as the trail becomes easy trail that leads to reach the village of Picon. It follows up on the right in a forest that goes into the woods and then down until you meet a track. You go down on the left for a few hundred meters and then take a path on the right. It goes down easy and smooth path undergrowth until you reach the road that climbs to the village Cemur Picon. On comfortable cart is reached Merso di Sopra.
