Il Monte Altissimo di Nago è una montagna delle Prealpi Bresciane e Gardesane alta 2.079 m. Fa parte delle Prealpi Gardesane Orientali ed è la vetta più alta della parte trentina della catena del Monte Baldo. E’situato nella zona meridionale della provincia di Trento. Facendo escursioni sul monte Altissimo è possibile osservare trincee e piccole fortificazioni risalenti alla prima guerra mondiale, essendo stato parte del fronte del Baldo. Inizialmente fu difeso dagli austriaci e poi conquistato dall'esercito italiano durante il primo giorno di guerra. Il monte Altissimo e le zone limitrofe sono caratterizzate da una flora ricchissima e talvolta endemica, tutto ciò grazie ad un microclima particolare dovuto all'influenza del Lago di Garda e al fatto che la zona non è stata interessata dall'ultima glaciazione. Il monte Altissimo è per la maggior parte ricoperto da prati ma alla base è presente anche una piccola zona boschiva. Da Torbole si sale per la lunghissima strada che insinuandosi tra boschi arriva ai Prati di Nago. Ivi giunti si supera una sbarra che segna l’inizio di una ripida carrareccia la quale culmina sul Monte Varagna. Si scende lungo la vallata per raggiungere la Malga Campei da dove parte un bel sentiero (il n. 650 ) che porta alla Malga Campo. Da qui si può optare per la lunga carrabile che arriva al Rifugio Altissimo oppure conquistare la vetta dell’omonimo monte affrontando in totale portage il sentier n.622 che passa per Pra delle Valsive e Bocca Paltrane. Una volta giunti in vetta al Monte Altissimo, a parte lo straordinario panorama sul Lago di Garda, circa 2000 m di discesa infernale ci si parano dinanzi. Il Sentiero della Pace n. 601 è molto conosciuto per le impegnative trame che offre ai biker più agguerriti. La roccia fa da padrona richiedendo doti tecniche e spregiudicatezza onde poter superare indenni uno dei sentieri più avvincenti dell’intero Monte Baldo. Discesi in prossimità della Malga Zures dal sentiero 601 deviamo per un altro fantastico trail, il sentiero Paternoster che non avendo nulla da invidiare al 601 continua precipitare verso Torbole. Insomma nulla da eccepire dinanzi a cotanto divertimento. Un’escursione nella quale è importante gestire al meglio le energie perché una volta raggiunto, non con poca fatica, l’Altissimo, bisogna possedere le scorte sufficienti per riuscire a scendere lungo un itinerario dove in un fiume di insidie la minima distrazione può costare cara.

The Monte Altissimo di Nago is a mountain of Lombardy Bresciane Gardesane high and 2,079 m. It is part of the Alpine foothills Gardesane East and is the highest peak in the Trentino part of the Monte Baldo. E'situato in the southern part of the province of Trento. Hiking on Mount Altissimo is possible to observe small trenches and fortifications dating back to the First World War, having been part of the front of Baldo. It was initially defended by the Austrians and then conquered by the Italian army during the first day of the war. Mount Altissimo and the surrounding areas are characterized by a rich flora and sometimes endemic, all thanks to a special microclimate due to the influence of Lake Garda and the fact that the area has not been affected by the last glaciation. Mount Altissimo is for the most part covered with meadows at the base but there is also a small wooded area. From Torbole, go up the long road that comes creeping through the woods to Prati di Nago. Once there you pass a bar that marks the beginning of a steep dirt track which culminates on Mount Varagna. Descend down the valley to reach the Malga Campei from where a beautiful trail (the no. 650) that leads to Malga Campo. From here you can opt for the long driveway arriving at Rifugio High or conquer the summit of the mountain facing the Sentier in total portage passes for 622 Pra delle Valsive and Mouth Paltrane. Once you reach the summit of Mount Altissimo, apart from the stunning views of Lake Garda, about 2000 m Downhill hell we are in touch. The Path of Peace n. 601 is well known for challenging storylines that offers the most hardened biker. The rock is the host requiring technical skills and ruthlessness in order to overcome one of the free paths most compelling of the entire Monte Baldo. Descended in the vicinity of Malga Zures deviate from the path 601 for another fantastic trail, the trail Paternoster who having nothing to envy to 601 continuous fall towards Torbole. So nothing to complain so much fun before. An excursion in which it is important to better manage energy because once achieved, not with little effort, the Most High, possess the sufficient stock to be able to go down a route where in a river of pitfalls the slightest distraction can cost you .
