La Valle San Silvestro è considerata uno degli angoli più belli della Val Pusteria: i verdissimi prati e lo spumeggiante torrente che la caratterizzano, conferiscono infatti un tocco idilliaco a questo luogo, dando la possibilità di affrontare una piacevole escursione su di un percorso tecnicamente semplice.
Dopo una prima parte sulle ciclabili tra San Candido e Dobbiaco si inizia a risalire il Rio San Silvestro, lambendo il paese omonimo e passando poi dall’altro lato del torrente dove una rampa piuttosto impegnativa e un bel sentiero erboso conducono all’inizio della salita vera e propria.
Dal fondo compatto, l’ascesa si allontana dal corso d’acqua risalendo le ripide pendici boscose con pendenze che superano il 20% per poi scollinare verso il maso Schoneggen, comunque raggiungibile dai meno allenati seguendo la più agevole strada di fondovalle.
Gli ultimi chilometri fino ai pascoli dell’Alpe San Silvestro sono i più facili, con la salita che alterna strappi e falsipiani avvolti nel rumoroso scrosciare del torrente. Dallo spiazzo sommitale è possibile poi raggiungere la chiesetta di San Silvestro con un’ultima breve ma difficile impennata.
La discesa su Versciaco, che anticipa il rientro su ciclabile, si snoda su sterrate larghe e veloci ma a tratti ripide, sulle quali andrà posta particolare attenzione date le alte velocità raggiungibili.

La Valle San Silvestro is considered one of the most beautiful corners of Val Pusteria: the green fields and the sparkling stream that characterize it, give it a twist to this idyllic place, giving you the chance to face an excursion on a technically simple.
After a first part on the paths between San Candido and Dobbiaco start to climb the Rio San Silvestro, passing through the village of the same name and then on the other side of the stream where a ramp quite challenging and a nice grassy path leading to the top of the climb itself.
From the bottom compact, the rise moves away from the river going up the steep wooded slopes with gradients exceeding 20 % and then downhill towards the farm Schoneggen, however, reachable by less trained following the easier path to the valley floor.
The last few miles up to the pastures of San Silvestro are the easiest, with the ascent alternating tears and falsipiani wrapped in noisy roar of the stream. From the clearing on the summit you can then get to the church of San Silvestro with one last short but difficult hike.
The descent of Versciaco, anticipating the return on path, takes place on dirt roads wide and fast, but sometimes steep on which particular attention should be paid given the high speeds attainable.
