Partiti dalla stazione di Monfalcone in breve si è già sugli sterrati del Carso, dopo poco con un bel sentiero si giunge a Duino dove si percorre il sentiero Rilke,si raccomanda la massima attenzione ai pedoni, è meglio evitare di percorrerlo in stagione o nei fine settimana di bel tempo. Si ritorna nell'entroterra e bisogna prestare attenzione a due attraversamenti di binari ferroviari. Dopo la spianata di Banne troviamo l'unico tratto di salita impegnativa con fondo smosso. Prima del parco scientifico si entra in un recinto di animali al pascolo, niente di pericoloso, basta attraversare le barriere con le scalette.
