Routenbeschreibung

The Monte Velino is the highest peak in the chain Velino-Sirente, the third highest mountain range in continental Apennines after Gran Sasso and Maiella. It is located a short distance from the border with Lazio, between the Fucino basin and the valleys of the rivers and Aterno Salto, flanked by mountains to the north-west of the Duchess and the massif of Monte Sirente south-east, separated from it by ' plateau of the Rocche. It is a barren, rocky mountain, not crossed by roads, which is flanked to the south-east of the Monte Cafornia little lower. The Velino is characterized by the presence of cliffs and brecciai and looks desolate and deserted, but having a flora and vegetation of great interest.
