Il sentiero che si snoda nella porzione meridionale del Comune di Manciano è adatto sia agli appassionati di mtb che agli amanti dei trekking.

Partendo dalla piazza principale di Manciano si percorre via Martiri della Libertà per uscire dal centro abitato, poi si svolta sulla sinistra prendendo una strada bianca che si allontana dal paese.

All’inizio il percorso attraversa una zona collinare con campi coltivati per poi
scendere verso la valle del Fiume Fiora, un’area che per le sue caratteristiche naturali è stata inserita nel SIR “Alto corso del fiume Fiora”. Qui si trovano anche i resti del villaggio preistorico di Scarceta e quelli di una vecchia centrale idroelettrica risalente al 1898.

Superata la valle del fiume Fiora si incontra la prima salita impegnativa, di 2,5 km, che risale i boschi del Pelagone. Sul sentiero si incontra il rudere del Castello di Scarceta, conosciuto anche con il nome di Castellaccio del Pelagone, costruzione risalente all’inizio del XIII secolo. Alla fine della salita si arriva al primo punto panoramico, uno scorcio di Manciano e sullo sfondo la vallata del Monte Amiata.

Si scende ancora, fra boschi e campi coltivati per raggiungere la Fattoria della
Campigliola, da qui si prosegue lungo una suggestiva dogana che confina con il Castello di Scerpena.

Segue un’altra salita impegnativa, 1 km, per arrivare al secondo punto panoramico, la Capriola, con vista rivolta verso l’Argentario e i boschi di Capalbio.

Il sentiero continua su strade bianche fino ad arrivare nuovamente a Manciano con una lunga salita, 8 km circa, interrotta da alcune brevi discese, passando per il Lago Scuro, interessante sito per la sosta di uccelli acquatici.

The trail that winds through the southern portion of the City of Manchester is suitable for both mtb enthusiasts that lovers of trekking.
Starting from the main square of Manchester is travels via the Martyrs of Liberty to get out of town, then turn left onto the gravel road that runs from the country.
At first, the route passes through a hilly area with cultivated fields and then down
towards the valley of the river Fiora, an area for its natural characteristics was included in the SIR "High river Fiora." Here also are the remains of the prehistoric village of Scarceta and those of a former power station dating back to 1898
Beyond the valley of the river Fiora meets the first tough climb of 2.5 km, which dates from the forests of Pelagone. On the trail you will encounter the ruins of the Castle of Scarceta, also known by the name of Castellaccio Pelagone building dating from the early thirteenth century. At the end of the climb you reach the first lookout point, a glimpse of Manchester and the background, the valley of Monte Amiata.
Go down again, through woods and fields to reach the farm of
Campigliola, from here continue along a picturesque customs which adjoins the Castle Scerpena.
follows another tough climb, 1 km, to get to the second viewpoint, the somersault, with a view facing the Argentario and forests Capalbio.
The path continues on dirt roads until you get back to Manciano with a long climb, about 8 km away, interrupted by some short descents, passing the Lago Scuro, an interesting stopover for waterfowl .
