Itinerario appenninico ricco di temi paesaggistici, architettonici e storici. L'andata percorre il tratto collinare del sentiero matilde. Prima parte prima sui asfalto e carraie per favorire il riscaldamento. (in alternativa il sentiero Matilde impone subito alcuni duri strappi in pendenza). Dopo i primi due borghi medievali si scende su single track in alcuni tratti a fondo roccioso. Raggiunta la valle del Tresinaro si sale per carraie al borgo di Pianzano, parrocchia di don Dino Orlandini, comandante delle Fiamme Verdi partigiane e agente dei servizi segreti Inglesi. Per strada asfaltata si sale sul crinale del monte valestra fino al bivio per san Vitale dove si imbocca una strada forestale. Dopo una prima impennata della strada di circa 100 mt si tiene il segnavia 618 che inizia scendendo per sassi instabili poi prosegue sul lato ovest della montagna. (Attenzione ad abbandonare la forestale che sale a sinistra per San Vitale, in mezzo alla curva.) Tra querce, capini e castagni si arriva al selciato che conduce al Castello matildico di Carpineti. Seguendo il sentiero lungo le mura si imbocca al primo bivio la carraia che scende a destra verso il paese di Carpineti. La strada asfaltata prosegue in direzione sud. La si abbandona a Regigno seguendo le indicazioni per l'agriturismo Le scuderie. Attraversati i borghi di Riana poi di San Donnino in località Cigarello si sale per strada asfaltata fino a Branciglia. Alla maestà si imbocca a destra per la dorsale del monte Ferrara. Appena dopo una stalla e un recinto per il bestiame si imbocca a sx una forestale che scende a nord per risalire fino al borgo di Paulli poi seguendo le indicazioni del sentiero Matilde per carraie si scende nella conca del lago dei Pini e si rientra alla partenza.

Route Apennine rich landscape themes, architecture and history. The first leg along the hilly stretch of the path matilde. The first part before the asphalt and driveway to facilitate heating. Following the path along the wall at the first fork, take the dirt road that descends to the right towards the town of Carpineti. The paved road continues south. The indulges in Regigno following the signs to the farm Stables. Riana then passed through the villages of San Donnino Cigarello in town, go up the paved road up to Branciglia.
