Si raggiunge Dobbiaco sulla forestale nel bosco. Passato il centro del paese inizia una interminabile salita che percorre prima tutta la Valle San Silvestro e poi sale su vecchia strada militare con pendenza regolare. Molto bello il tratto di attraversamento in quota, con brevi tratti a piedi (in totale circa 15/20 minuti in tutto. Dalla cima austriaca si scende sul sentiero 7 più tecnico e ripido nella parte alta e panoramica, poi una volta entrati nel bosco più morbido e fattibile fino a Sillian. Si rientra sulla pista ciclabile.
