Routenbeschreibung

The Esterel is a group of volcanic rock with the geological origin common to my beloved Corsica, located behind St. Raphael on the French Riviera.
Destination for hikers in the classic resort of Cannes and surrounding areas, its red rocks are suitable for beginners of VTT (veil tout terrain, so call the Alpine mountain bike) who want to enjoy a very scenic trip even in the year where the bad weather is the master.
Tracks are really well catered for thanks to the bike and the interdiction policy of fighting forest fires in the Biological Reserve Natural formed since 1997-98. In short, a good compromise to the Ligurian coastal paths but in their beauty, biodiversity and technicality remain unsurpassed in my opinion.
More favorable access for those coming from Cannes is near the marina of La Rague immediately after the town of Mandelieu-La Napoule.
leaving the coastal highway you venture into the valley of the Domaine de Maure Vieil (PHOTO 1) first on asphalt along the stream The Rague then, at the intersection near the entrance to the Reserve, it exceeds the metal bar and begins to climb gently along the track of Mineurs (PHOTO 2) until you reach the first crossroads in altitude near a tank firefighting green with white H painted on the lid (there are several along the way) .
of Mineurs The track continues down to the right and goes directly to Thèoul-sur-Mer; taking the obvious track upstream, you come to the Col de Monges and Col du Trayas from which you can reach in a hurry and agility the junction at the foot of Sommet des Gros Grues with the obvious place in lattice top.
Dal Col du Trayas continue to mount between the unmistakable scents and colors of the Mediterranean up to the next Col de la Cadière from which you take the marked trail GR 51 which leads to the Col de Notre-Dame.
Dal Col de Notre-Dame will have to available multiple choices: you can go back to the sea down to the village of Le Trayas Superior and from there following the coast road to return to the Rague, or go to the Pic de l'Ours on which heads the imposing building of the repeater television ( PHOTO 3) and from which you can enjoy a priceless 360-degree view of the Demaniale Foret de l'Esterel and the Bay of Cannes.
I chose to take the path GR 51 downhill: it is a quite a singletrack with technical steps and rocks from which he comes close to the charming pond de l'Ecureil (the Squirrel - PHOTO 4) and from here to the junction at the Col Aubert shortly after two fountains (I do not recommend using them for drinking as there are news contrasting the potability). At the intersection you can decide whether to go into the reserve along the GR 51 trail towards the Mont Vinaigre Suvières and then link up with routes that go to St. Raphael or returning via St. Jean de La Napoule Cannes or move on to the Col de the Belle Barbe and from this to the picnic areas near the Maison de la Foretale Gratadis where you can rest for a while 'from the summer heat. From here, continue down along the creek Grenuillot takes you directly to the beautiful coastal road, the famous Corniche d'Or, strongly supported by the French and Touring Club which this year celebrates 110 years. From here it is pointing directly towards Thèoul-sur-Mer to return to Cannes which is about 10 km from La Rague, our access point to the path TT (tout terrain).
I have finally taken the GR 51: the climb to the Baisse de la Grosse Vache and the Col des Suvières (PHOTO 5) is just a formality.
reaching the Col des Trois Termes we take the singletracks Des Œufs de Bouc between the two pads and the Sommet Sommet du Marsaou Pelet that with a level trail leads us directly to the road from St. Jean de Cannes near the small cemetery immediately after parking near a Model Aircraft Club.
The descent from the cemetery of St. Jean there leads directly to Mandelieu, from here going to the mall GEANT and cross the bridge over the river Siagne, we pass along the embankment with the landing places for pleasure craft and there raccordiamo with the main road to Cannes La Bocca and then in short careerism to our starting point on the Croisette in Cannes.
In conclusion, this tour is suitable for beginners to the unevenness of the ground without tearing sweet and devoid of technical passages with the exception of the descent from the Col de Notre-Dame de l the pond ' Escuriel: results of medium difficulty only for those leaving from Cannes by virtue of mileage. The only care is to protect themselves, especially in summer, a good supply of water and leave early to avoid the hottest hours.
