Ci troviamo nella riserva naturale Feudo Ugni. Il nome deriva dal latino “omnium” cioè di tutti perchè la zona era lasciata agli usi delle popolazioni locali e costituisce una delle prime riserve istituite sulla Majella. Si parte dall’imbocco del Vallone del Palombaro chiamato anche Vallone d’Ugni ove iniziamo la lunghissima salita per il Rifugio Martellese. La carrareccia, a tratti ripida ma totalmente pedalabile, serpeggia tra i boschi dapprima in direzione del Colle Strozzi, poi lo aggira continuando con ampie diagonali fin sulla sommità del Munte d’Ugni ove ci lasciamo alle spalle lo spettacolo delle Gobbe di Selva Romana e dell’imponente parete delle Murelle. Dal Rifugio Martellese l’itinerario cambia improvvisamente e mostra il suo volto più impervio e pericoloso ma nel contempo seduce e rende attoniti quando ci si trova dinanzi al Vallone del Palombaro. Dominata da rocce incombenti, la via di discesa è subito ripida, si snoda tra prati e poderosi fianchi calcarei che iniziano a cingerla dai due lati. Si scende tra pareti verticali intervallate da piccoli ripiani e cenge naturali dove è possibile avvistare camosci ed udire il verso metallico dei gracchi. Insomma si ha la fortuna di percorrere un sentiero molto duro ma che si insinua in autentico luogo incantato fatto di roccia, grotte e piccole foreste. La parte alta della discesa è fatta di passaggi molto tossici mentre man mano che ci si addentra nel vallone le difficoltà sono date dai sassi smossi che caratterizzano la parte centrale del tracciato. Infine nella parte finale, dominata da bassa vegetazione, il sentiero si diviene più flow per riportarci al punto di partenza. Un itinerario di certo non adatto a tutti per via della durezza dell’ascesa ma soprattutto per la discesa che sottopone il fisico ad uno stress non indifferente.

We are in the nature reserve Feud Ugni. The name derives from the Latin "omnium" that is all because the area was left to the use of the local population and is one of the first reserves established on the Majella. It starts from the entrance of the Valley of the Diver also called Vallone d'Ugni where we begin the long climb to the Rifugio Martellese. The cart track, steep in places but totally pedaled, meanders through the woods at first in the direction of Colle Strozzi, then continuing around with large diagonal fin on the top of Munthe d'Ugni where we leave behind the spectacle of the Humps Selva Romana and of 'imposing wall of Murelle. From the Rifugio Martellese the route suddenly changes and shows his face more harsh and dangerous but at the same seduces and makes astonished when you find yourself in front of the Valley of Diver. Dominated by overhanging rocks, the route of descent is steep immediately, winds through meadows and mighty limestone hips begin to encircle the two sides. It falls between the vertical walls interspersed with small shelves and ledges where you can spot natural chamois and to hear the metal of choughs. In short, you have the good fortune to follow a path very hard but that sneaks in an authentic place of enchanted rock, caves and small forests. The upper part of the descent is made of very toxic while steps as we go into the valley of the difficulties are given by stones shaken that characterize the middle part of the track. Finally at the end, which is dominated by low vegetation, the trail becomes more flow to bring us back to the starting point. A route is certainly not for everyone because of the hardness of the ascent but especially for the descent and submit it to the physical stress is not indifferent.
