Routenbeschreibung

This trip is part of the network Natura 2000, namely, those known as Percursos do Monfurado. There are signs in most of the tracks that connect villages and historical sights.  Among many, the megalithic enclosure of Almendres (Cromeleque de Almendres) is the largest group of menhirs in the Iberian Peninsula, and one of the largest in Europe. The track also makes a half tour of the refreshing dam of Tourega and next to it there are the ruins of a roman bath. Cycling eastwards we approach Évora. Returning to the starting point is done following the Ecopista de Évora.  There will be a few gates to trespass. Some are unlocked, that you can open and should close again. I found however a few that were locked, but I managed to jump over most of these by climbing the gates. In one of them I made a detour  on the track because it had barbed wire. Beware when passing by farm houses of barking dogs, some of then unstuck.
The trip starts and ends in the Hotel Quinta dos Bastos which has a good value for money and its about 5 km from Évora centre and close to several hiking/cycling paths.Rural tourism Quinta dos Bastoshttp://hotelquintadosbastos.com/en/  External link:http://www.evora.net/percursos/monfurado.htm#
